This 3 Day Mountain Rwenzori Hiking Adventure is ideal for travelers who want a taste of Uganda’s majestic “Mountains of the Moon” but have limited time. Rising to 5,109 meters above sea level, the Rwenzori Mountains offer one of the most scenic and challenging hikes in East Africa. Depending on your time and fitness level, you can choose from two main trekking routes: the Central Circuit or the Kilembe Trail. This short hiking safari takes you to the lower altitudes of Rwenzori Mountains National Park, with stunning views, diverse flora and fauna, and a taste of the high mountain experience.
The Rwenzori range, located near the Equator in western Uganda, is known for its glacier-capped peaks, misty valleys, and rich biodiversity. Trip Itinerary
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up and begin the scenic drive west to Kasese, the gateway town to the Rwenzori Mountains. The journey takes about 7 hours, with a lunch stop en route in Mubende. On arrival in Kasese, you’ll check in at your hotel and rest in preparation for your trek the next day.

Today, you begin your mountain adventure! After a short transfer to the park’s starting point, begin your hike from 1,450 meters to Sine Camp at 2,680 meters. This trail winds through lush Afro-montane forest with towering trees, bamboo thickets, and moss-draped vines. You’ll likely spot blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and a variety of birds. Occasionally, L’Hoest monkeys or even chimpanzees can be heard in the distance.
En route, you’ll pass Enock’s Falls, a beautiful cascade just 300 meters from Sine Camp—perfect for photos and a refreshing stop. At Sine Camp, cozy wooden huts tucked among tall trees offer stunning views and a peaceful overnight stay.
Option for fit hikers: Continue to Kalalama Camp (3,134m) for more altitude gain and extra time to explore Mutinda Lookout on Day 3.

After an early breakfast, descend back down through the forest and return to the base of the mountain. You’ll then begin your journey back to Entebbe or Kampala, arriving in the evening — just in time for your flight or to continue your travels.
