Overview
This 3 Day Gorilla Habituation Experience Road Tour is crafted for adventurers who want a deeper, more immersive primate experience in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park—home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.
Unlike traditional gorilla trekking, the habituation experience allows you to spend up to four hours with a semi-habituated gorilla family, accompanied by expert researchers and trackers. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity takes place in the southern sector of Bwindi, where lush rainforests meet dramatic volcanic landscapes and local Batwa culture thrives.

Trip Itinerary
Your guide from Bamba Safaris will pick you up from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport to begin the scenic drive to the southern part of Bwindi. Along the way, you’ll stop at the Equator in Kayabwe for photos and local crafts, then continue through the rolling hills of Ankole and Mbarara for a lunch stop.
As you approach the Kigezi Highlands, enjoy dramatic views of terraced landscapes and lush valleys. You’ll arrive at your lodge near Rushaga or Nkuringo in the late afternoon.

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla habituation protocols. Led by experienced rangers and researchers, you’ll embark on a guided trek into the forest to locate a semi-habituated gorilla group.
Once found, you’ll spend four unforgettable hours observing the gorillas as they go about their daily life. Learn how conservationists help these gentle giants get accustomed to human presence—watch, listen, take notes, and even help identify individuals or behaviors.
Enjoy your packed lunch in the forest, then return to your lodge for a relaxing evening.

Accommodation: Same lodge as Day 1
After breakfast, begin the drive back to Entebbe or Kampala. You’ll break for lunch in Mbarara and arrive in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on traffic and weather. Your guide will drop you off at your hotel or airport, marking the end of your 3-day gorilla habituation adventure.
