Trip Itinerary

Day 01 : Transfer from Entebbe or Kampala to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala by your professional driver-guide. After a short briefing, begin the scenic drive southwest toward Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, a journey of approximately 9–10 hours.

Along the way, stop at the Uganda Equator crossing in Kayabwe for photographs and to witness the famous water experiment that demonstrates the difference between the northern and southern hemispheres.

Continue the journey to Mbarara where you will stop for lunch before driving through the beautiful terraced hills of Kabale and into the volcanic landscapes of Kisoro near the Virunga Mountains.

Upon arrival at your lodge, check in and relax before dinner.

Day 02: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After an early breakfast, your driver-guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. During the briefing, you will learn about gorilla trekking guidelines and safety procedures before beginning your trek.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is home to one habituated gorilla family—the Nyakagezi group. This famous gorilla family is known for its stability and currently resides permanently within Uganda after years of moving across the borders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat as they feed, groom, and interact with each other.

After the trek, return to your lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Day 03: Return to Entebbe or Kampala

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin the return journey to Entebbe or Kampala. Along the way, you will stop again at the Equator for lunch and have time to browse craft shops for souvenirs.

You will arrive in the late afternoon or early evening, where your driver-guide will drop you off at your hotel or at Entebbe International Airport depending on your onward travel plans.
